Healthy Eating

As a Healthy School we encourage healthy eating

At Fairway Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring the health and well-being of all our pupils. We recognise the importance of catering to allergies, food intolerances, and specific dietary requirements, including those based on religious beliefs. Our school works closely with parents and carers to gather detailed information about each child’s needs and ensures that our meal plans and snacks are safe and suitable for everyone. We take every precaution to prevent cross-contamination and provide alternative options to accommodate all dietary restrictions. If you have any concerns or need to discuss your child’s dietary needs, please contact our school office for further assistance.

We follow all of Natasha’s Law guidance: What is Natasha’s Law? — The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation

If you need further information about allergens in any of the food from our menu, please contact the school office.

Please can we remind all parents and carers that we are a nut free school.

School dinners can be booked using the My Child at School application (MCAS app).

School meals are £2.60 per day.

Free school meals

Since September 2014 all children who are in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a free, healthy school lunch under the ‘Universal Free School Meal’ Government initiative. Children in other school years will also be offered a free school lunch if a parent is receiving certain welfare benefits.

Registering for free meals could raise extra funding for our school.

This additional money is available from central government for every child whose parent is receiving certain welfare benefits. It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals, even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, so that our school receives as much funding as possible.

How the information in this form will be used

The information you provide on the website will be used by the council to confirm receipt of certain welfare benefits. Once this is confirmed, this helps to decide how much money our school will receive each year.

The information will also be used in relation to children in Year 3 or above to decide whether they are eligible for free school meals.

This information will be assessed periodically.

We are committed to ensuring that the personal and sensitive information that we hold about you is protected and kept safe and secure, and we have measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

We will use the information you provide to assess entitlement to free school meals. The information may also be shared with other Council departments to offer benefits and services
